J. Ullmann & Cie. are listed by K. Pritchard in Swiss Timepiece Makers 1775-1975, p. U-4. Pritchard notes that the Britannia trade mark (as found to the inside back cover of the present watch) was registered by Ullmann in 1896. In addition to their operations in Asia, the firm had representation at La Chaux de Fonds, Fleurier, Paris and Vladivostok. According to Chapuis, Ullmann registered their Chinese brand in 1893 (see: La Montre Chinoise, p. 205).
