A GOLD AND ENAMEL WATCH IN THE FORM OF AN ORIENTAL HARP

CIRCA 1830

[維也納製黃金飾琺瑯東方撥弦琴造型懷錶,年份約1830]


Movement: gilded full plate, escapement laterconverted to lever, decoratively pierced and engraved balance bridge, silver regulation plate, fusee and chain

Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, aperture for winding

Case: gold and enamel in the form of an oriental harp, the case chased and engraved and overlaid with translucent green and red enamels, opaque white enamel banding, the panels interspersed with engraved gold trophies of music, the sound board painted en camïeu in white against a translucent blue enamel ground and with applied diamond-set star and crescent motifs, the curved keyboard with chevron-shaped alternating enamel bands of red, green and white enamel and terminating with a leopard's head
