PORTRAIT OF A CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL
oil on canvas
17 by 20 ¾ in.; 43.2 by 52.7 cm
Examined in the frame. Oil on canvas, lined. Generally fair condition, aside from surface dirt and dust with a yellowed varnish; scattered faint craquelure; a few isolated tiny losses; 1 1/2 inch diagonal scratch with associated loss at lower right; and visible to the naked eye are a 1 inch area of restoration at lower right and an area of restoration at upper right. Under UV: heavy, old varnish fluoresces green in a streaky manner and somewhat impedes the view of the surface, but in addition to aforementioned restoration, a very few scattered dashes of retouching fluoresce on the dog and in the background. Offered in a decorative white and gold frame with a dot pattern. Ready to hang in its current state.
