Harmonious Hoops

This pair of jadeite hoop is a traditional style of jewellery known as the known as ping’an kou pendant. The characters “ping’an” generally mean serenity and kou refers to the button shape, together expressing a wish for peace and safety. Each pendant is a disc; the outer circle represents the expansiveness of heaven and earth, while the inner circle symbolises inner tranquillity and freedom from want. Harmoniously fused, the two circles perfectly express the ideals of human generosity and peaceful coexistence. The pendants protect their wearer from harm.

The 18k platinum bases of both pendants can be freely opened and closed. The jadeite is clear and transparent, with a deep and luxurious tonality and attractive translucency and luminosity. Its watery texture endows it with an understated elegance. Sharing the same colour and texture, the two pendants were carved from the same block of jadeite, making them even more precious. Understated, elegant, and modern, they are further inlaid with diamonds and attached with a black string.
