WILD TULIPS

signed and dated 1932

oil on canvas

45 by 37cm.; 17¾ by 14½in.

The canvas appears original, and undulates slightly. There are very fine lines of craquelure to the white flowers, as well as further more minor instances elsewhere. There is some minor flattening to the thicker impasto tips. There is evidence of two small repairs to the canvas on the reverse, behind the tip of the middle group of white flowers, and to the lower left of the vase. There is light dust and studio detritus to the work. This excepting, the work appears to be in very good overall condition.

Inspection under Ultraviolet light appears to reveal a few minor signs of fluorescence and retouching, including to the extreme edges and to the vase, very sensitively executed. The work is covered with a varnish that makes it harder to see any more historic fluorescence and retouching.

The work is presented in a gilt painted wooden frame.
