MARION MOREHOUSE

gelatin silver print, Steichen's '80 West 40th Street, New York' studio stamp, a Condé Nast publication stamp, and with annotations in pencil on the reverse, framed, 1925 (Vogue, 1 May 1925, p. 58)

image: 9⅞ by 7⅝ in. (25.1 by 19.4 cm.)

framed: 15½ by 12½ in. (39.4 by 31.8 cm.)

This photograph is in good to very good condition. There is silvering in the darkest areas at the edges. Deposits of original graphite shading can be seen along the left side of the model's torso and the hem of her dress. There are a few fingerprints near the edges of the print. There are creases near the edges, some of which appear to break the emulsion, with some losses particularly near the upper left margin edge. There is edge and corner wear to the black margin edges.

The reverse is soiled and copiously annotated in pencil in an unidentified hand. The Condé Nast stamp is annotated:

Date sitting: 'Mar - 4 - 25'

Where taken: 'Park Ave Studio'

Model: 'Miss Morehouse'

Issue Published: 'May 1, 1925' and 'page 58' in ink.

Additional annotations include 'E [circled]' in red crayon and 'Vogue 13459 L [circled]'; '-7-'; '933[?] / pg 5'; and 'L 76 : 275 : 46' in pencil.
