The depiction of two badgers conveys marital bliss, and the creatures are often shown arranged head to tail with their paws touching. Compare an 18th century white and russet jade 'double badger' group from the collection of Gerald Godfrey, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30th October 1995, lot 841. A second example, formerly in the Feng Wen Tang Collection, was sold in these rooms, 15th September 2015, lot 151; and a third sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 1st June 2017, lot 1.
