Parmi les nombreux types de massues courtes communs à l'ensemble de la Nouvelle-Zélande et destinées aux combats rapprochés se distingue celle nommée wahaika, caractérisée par la beauté du dessin sinueux de la lame. Celle-ci se distingue par la richesse de son ornementation - la surface entièrement gravée d'entrelacs -, et par la figure de tiki sculptée au-dessus de la poignée.
