Stamped Marc Chagall (lower right)

Gouache and colored pencil on paper

14 by 9 in. (35.6 by 22.9 cm)

Framed: 33 1/2 by 28 in. (85.1 by 71.1 cm)

Executed circa 1935.

The authenticity of this work has kindly been confirmed by the Comité Chagall.

Executed on cream wove paper. All four edges have been taped along the verso, likely due to a previous mounting; the tape is in turn taped to a window mat along the top edge. The right edge of the sheet is lightly deckled. A slight undulation to the sheet. Remnants of a previous mount and flecks of gilding along the taped edges. Remnants of an adhesive along the extreme right edge, in addition to a 3/4 inch loss to the bottom of the right edge. Minor handling creases and nicks along the right edge. A few pindot stains. This work is in good condition.
