Jugement de Pâris
signé A. LHOTE (en haut à gauche)
huile sur toile
50,4 x 73,4 cm; 19⅞ x 29 in.
Peint en 1927.
Cette œuvre sera incluse au catalogue raisonné actuellement en préparation par Dominique Bermann Martin.
It has not been possible to examine the work entirely unframed. The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals an area of retouching (approx. 5cm wide) towards the centre of the upper edge (located 3cm from the upper edge and 25cm from the right edge) and a small dot of retouching to the sailor's back (located 8cm from the right edge and 23cm from the lower edge). There is a tiny dot of paint loss to the upper right quadrant (located 3cm from the upper edge and 25cm from the right edge). There are webs of fine lines of craquelure scattered. There are two scuffs associated with paint losses to the upper part of the left edge (as visible in the catalogue illustration) and an additional scratch associated with tiny dots of paint losses to the lower left quadrant (located 15cm from the left edge and 8cm from the lower edge). There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
