The canvas has been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher with an additional loose lining. This is providing a stable support.

There is some hairline craquelure in the sky. However this is not visually distracting.

Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals a small area of retouching in the sky in the upper right corner, possibly addressing an old repair, and some minor inpainting in the sky in the upper left.

Otherwise, this work is in good condition and is ready to hang.

Presented in a decorative gilt frame.

In the lineage of the great French Romantic painter Eugène Delacroix, Victor Huguet excelled at painting horses and hunting scenes set in Northern Africa. Here, a group of horsemen watches as one of their falcons catches its prey.
