The partnership of Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. can be dated all the way back to 1851 and is the longest partnership Patek Philippe has with any retailer. It was Antoine Nobert de Patek whom first brokered the deal that is still flourish today. Patek Philippe timepieces double signed with the famous Tiffany signature represent some of the finest and most sought after contemporary watches available on the market today.
The luxury world was taken by storm recently when LVMH successfully acquired arguably one of the most recognized and sought after brands in the world. Founded in 1837, Tiffany & Co. will soon be controlled by LVMH, one of the world’s largest luxury conglomerates. With this takeover, many of the world’s leading scholars hypothesize if both Patek Philippe or Tiffany & Co. will change their future direction. Speculation is growing that in the not too distant future, one may not be able to find a double signed Patek Philippe retailed by Tiffany & Co. The present watch, a chronograph reference 5170, perfectly illustrates one of horologies longest and most famous partnerships that may become obsolete in the future.
