The Art Nouveau movement first started to appear in the 1890’s and was particularly suited to jewellery and watches. Watches were embellished with enamel, pearls, and diamonds to create scenes of shining light. The present lapel watch is a wonderful example of an Art Nouveau Patek Philippe watch with similarly decorated associated chain. The watch is embellished with translucent purplish-enamel enamel back and white enamel ring surrounding the bezel. With a sunburst style enamel case back and delicately pierced diamond-set frame that creates a fine cartouche, the present watch is a beautiful example Patek Philippe's master craftsmanship from the early 1900s.
