A fateful encounter at the "2nd World Craft City Conference" held in Kanazawa in 1999, was when Makie Kaga first met luxury Swiss Watches. It was a young member of the Kanazawa Lacquerware association who heard stories about the swift mechanical wristwatches in Switzerland, and wondered if Kaga Makie could be used for watch dials. Starting with a prototype exhibited at "Basel Fair" in spring 2002, the collaboration between Bovet and Japanese lacquer finally began, which eventually became well known for their craftsmanship in unique watches.
