The Patek Philippe reference 5100 was released in the year 2000 to commemorate the new millennium. Limited in production, the model was available in the four different precious metals usually used by the renowned manufacture. While there were 1500 watches produced in yellow gold, only 750 were made in pink gold such as the present lot, with 450 white gold and 300 platinum examples completing the series.

The calibre 28-20 was a novelty and Patek Philippe's first model to feature a 10-day power reserve. The design was inspired by the historical 'Manta Ray' reference 2554 from the 1950s and has a very intriguing shape. The pink gold variation stands out in contrast with the attractive ruthenium dial and the present example is further offered with all official documentation and its commemorative silver medal.
