The present lot features a quarter repeating function with a romantic twist. Through its gongs and hammers, rather than striking the usual dings and dongs, it plays the tune of God Save the Queen, national anthem to the United Kingdom and commonwealth countries.

The tune itself originates from the 17th century though it was popularised in 1745 following its publication in the Theasuarus Musicus the previous year.

Interestingly the dial is semi skeletonised allowing the user to view the repeating work in action. The watch is offered in very attractive condition and gives any discerning collector the opportunity to purchase a highly prized and rare piece.
