The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. The dial with some minor spots throughout, only visible under a strong loupe. Indexes marking show signs of discolouration, particularly to 12 and 3 o'clock. The 24 hour is nicely raised with hard enamel with only some minor spotting. The outer city ring is also raised in hard enamel and is in original condition with only minor aging in places. The case is in very crisp and original condition with some minor tarnishing towards the edges. The case back with some surface wear, which is more than consistent with the age of the watch. There is some minor signs of opening. The case with light polishing. Overall in very good condition.

Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts.

The present example was created in the early 1940s in a very limited quantity of less than 100 pieces and was discontinued in the early 1960s. This model was also available in yellow gold and different variations of layouts and dial colors. To ensure the rigorous standards of the world time mechanism, Cottier was personally involved in the finishing of every single reference 605 during that time. With world time being the most sought-after complications watch of Patek Philippe, this present example has a more special historical element as Paris and London are listed on the same time zone, for Paris had converted to Central European Time in June, 1940 due to the Second World War.

The present watch is a fine example with very crisp case and hard enamel scales throughout.
