Designed by the legendary watch designer Gerald Genta during the 1970s quartz crisis, the Nautilus remains one of the world’s most recognisable luxury sport watches. Produced from 1981 to 2006, the present reference 3800 pays tribute to the larger-sized reference 3700 ‘Jumbo’, while maintaining the distinctive rounded octagonal-shaped bezel inspired by a maritime porthole.
Blending nautical spirit with elaborate jewel-setting technique, this present example features a pavé-set case: the striking baguette-cut emerald hour indexes complement the golden hands and the glistering diamond-embellished dial. While the yellow-gold case evokes the bold visuals, glamour and nostalgia of the golden era during the 1970s and 1980s.
Melding the iconic rounded-angle contours of the Nautilus with a highly-jewelled aesthetic, the present reference embodies the duality of modernity and elegance. Fitted with 220 diamonds of 7.01 carats, the present watch offers an exclusive opportunity to collect an extremely-rare variation of the reference 3800.
