circa 1972

two rows of 14 rods with cattail tops

beryllium copper, brass

30 1/2 x 12 1/4 x 3 in. (77.4 x 31.1 x 7.6 cm)

Overall in very good condition. This sonambient presents with a variegated metallic surface when viewed in person, displaying hues ranging from gold to dark copper. The metal surfaces have been cleaned by a professional conservator and present with scattered traces of oxidation and verdigris marks throughout. The cattails of slightly varying heights, inherent to production and inherent to the artist’s vision. Three cattail tops with very minor irregularities to the surface inherent to casting. The base with some light scratches throughout which are not visually distracting. Maximum height of cattails: 1 7/8 inches. A superb example from Harry Bertoia’s sonambient series.
