Overall in fair, restored condition. The enamel with craquelure throughout consistent with age, stable. The enamel with scattered losses throughout including around the outer perimeter, within the blue background, to the green flower centers, and to the leaves, consistent with age and handling. Occasionally the original enamel around some of these losses has been stabilized by the application of a clear enamel, only visible upon close inspection. Some losses to the blue background have been touched in with paint, and in some cases the blue pigment extends onto the surrounding silver surfaces and flower petals, not visually distracting. The white petals appear to have been applied with a later white enamel, which presents with a different and slightly softer surface texture compared to the original enamel, and with some surface irregularities inherent to the material. While the circumference of the lip of the lid is not perfectly circular, the lid fits snuggly on the lower portion of the box. The silver surfaces throughout are in very good condition with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, and faint discolorations consistent with age and gentle handling. A handsome work with distinct all-over enameled composition and rich colors.
