Property from the Collection of Michael and Renee Silverstein
lacquered and ebonized maple, fabric upholstery
27 x 29 1/4 x 28 7/8 in. (68.5 x 74.2 x 73.1 cm)
Overall in very good condition. This superb single example of the iconic “Croisillon” armchair was originally in the collection of Jean Royère and presents in well-preserved condition overall. The wooden surfaces have been professionally relacquered at some point in the history of the piece and present with a homogenous black matte finish throughout. The lacquered wood with light surface scratches, edgewear and occasional minor indentations concentrated to the edges and consistent with gentle use. The cushions may have been reupholstered at some point in their history but appear to retain the original padding with metal springs. The fabric presents with occasional areas of discoloration consistent with sun exposure as well as extremely minimal paint stains which are not visually distracting.
