A Rare Coffee table
patinated iron, oak plywood, clear glass
14 1/4 in. (36.1 cm) high
32 3/4 in. (83.1 cm) maximum diameter
Overall in very good condition. An extremely rare piece by Jean Royère, only known through one article in Mobilier et Décoration in 1960 which mentions that singer Henri Salvador owned one example. This coffee table appears to have retained its original patinated finish to the metal, which presents with expected signs of age, namely light surface scratches, edge abrasions, discolorations, very minor losses to the lacquer and resulting oxidation to the metal. The glass top appears to be original as well and presents with some scuffing to the top as well as occasional very minor wear and rubbing to the sides. From contact with the patinated metal surfaces, the edges of the glass with occasional black marks. The plywood surface is in very good condition overall with a homogenous coloration throughout. One edge of the plywood with two slightly darker marks, the largest measuring approximately 1 1/4 inch wide. The raised metal decorations with some light oxidation throughout consistent with age.
