A SEVRES PORCELAIN PUNT-SHAPED DISH, 1783
plateau à raves, from the service given by Louis XVI to Archduke Ferdinand Karl of Austria, painted with bouqets of pink roses and cornflowers, the central oval medallion with a carmine ground within a border of pearls, the bleu céleste border reserved with flowers within bands of berried laurel below a gilt band of beads, blue interlaced L`s enclosing date letters above painter's mark for Cyprien-Julien Hirel de Choisy (active 1770–1812)

This dish come from a service, the gift of Louis XVI to his brother-in-law, Ferdinand Karl, Archduke of Austria and Govenor of the Duchy of Milan and his consort Archduchess Maria-Beatrice d’Este, Duchess of Massa and Princess of Carrara. They visited Versailles in 1786 travelling incognito under the names of the comte and comtesse de Nellenburg.
