Conrad Kiesel (1846-1921) was renowned for his depictions of beauties and as a portrait painter and was closely associated with Berlin; his work was a popular source for the porcelain painters at the Berlin K.P.M. The present plaque represents Yum-Yum, a the young bride from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado".
