Painted in 1937-40.

The work is in very good condition. The canvas is strip-lined. There is one area of extremely thin pigment shrinkage in the black pigments to the right of the sitter's proper left arm and another in the dark green pigments of the upholstery of the chair. Under UV light: no inpainting is apparent.
