L'Oiseau volant vers son nid

Signed G Braque and dedicated Pour Richardson. avec mes amities (lower left)

Collage with gouache and pencil on the cover of Jaarboek (1953)

7 by 10 1/4 in. (17.7 by 26 cm)

Framed: 14 3/4 by 18 in. (37.5 by 45.7 cm)

Executed in 1955.

Executed on the paper-covered interior of a front cover of Jaarboek, 1953. The top edge of the paper is slightly torn due to being removed from the rest of the book and there is some wear to the extreme of the top edge. The collage elements are mostly sound; the left wing of the bird is slightly lifting. There is some minor rubbing and wear to the right and left edges. There are some scattered nicks and abrasion throughout, most notably in the dark brown collage element. The work is in overall good condition.
