Painter, sculptor, director and set designer, Marcel Dzama

is known for his drawings depicting silhouettes that are

as seductive as they are disturbing. Preserved in the most

prestigious international collections, from the MoMA in

New York to the MoCA in Los Angeles, the Tate Gallery in

London and the National Gallery of Canada, his whimsical works

are in line with naïve and popular art as well as surrealism.

Reminiscent of the world of a Marcel Duchamp, a Hannah

Hoch or a Joseph Cornell, the anthropomorphic fauna and flora

he depicts is nevertheless quite unique. For while he is in line

with the art he feeds off of, the artist born in Winnipeg in 1974

brings to light whimsical and versatile scenarios that belong

only to him.

du Canada, ses oeuvres fantaisistes se situent dans la droite

lignée de l’art naïf et populaire mais aussi du surréalisme.

Rappelant l’univers d’un Marcel Duchamp, d’une Hannah

Hoch ou d’un Joseph Cornell, la faune et la flore

anthropomorphe qu’il dépeint est cependant tout à fait

unique. Car s’il s’inscrit dans la continuité de l’art dont il
