Thu-Van Tran

Born in 1979 in Ho Chi Minh City, Thu-Van Tran is interested

in matter and its infinite possibilities. Between minimalism

and Arte Povera, a sensitive and biographical approach, her

work oscillates between material and immaterial with a rare

delicacy.

Through the two drawings illustrated here, representing dense

clouds of grey stained with color, the artist, whose works

are already part of the permanent collections of the Centre

Pompidou, the Louis Vuitton Foundation or the Louvre Abu

Dhabi, evokes both the tragedy of the napalm bombings that

destroyed her country of origin and the beauty of a volcanic

eruption in the night.

denses nuées de gris maculés de couleurs, l’artiste dont

les oeuvres font déjà parties des collections permanentes

du Centre Pompidou, de la Fondation Louis Vuitton ou

du Louvre Abou Dhabi évoque aussi bien le tragique des

bombardements au napalm qui ont détruit son pays d’origine

que la beauté d’une éruption volcanique dans la nuit.
