The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc., New York, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's:
This work is in very good condition. The canvas remains stretched on its original stretcher. There are visible horizontal stretcher marks across the bottom edge and in the upper right, which can only be corrected if the work is lined. The paint layer is clean and lightly varnished. Above the right corner of the pediment of the stock exchange, there are a few small retouches along with a slightly larger one of about half an inch by a quarter of an inch, which address small losses.
