JonOne

JonOne started painting in the streets of Harlem in the early 1980s, taking a leading role in New York’s burgeoning Graffiti culture. Initially motivated by vandalism, he then traded the walls and subway trains of his neighbourhood for the boards and canvases installed in his Paris studio. A recurring element from these two worlds, the same repetitive JonOne tag is often found in his works.

This painting is a perfect example of the obsessive and erratic style which makes his work so recognizable. Additionally, the bottom of the canvas reminds us of his love for brash colours.
