"Lutz Dille fled Germany immediately after WWII, touring Europe, but eventually settled in Canada in the 1950s. He earned his living as a documentary film cameraman, and also directed films. His street photographs were made with his Leica held at shoulder level, composing the frame without looking through its viewfinder. This image taken of a young couple inside the MoMA bookstore in 1959, entranced by slides, is emblematic of our love of looking at photographs. While snapping the shutter, someone on the sidewalk was passing behind Lutz who, as chance would have it, was Edward Steichen reflected in the glass." - Stephen Bulger
