Description
Château Rieussec 1983
Sauternes, 1er Cru Classé
u. 2bn, 1vts, excellent appearance, 4 capsules slightly nicked at collar
In 2019, and from a half bottle, this was heavenly with strawberries. This was the year that Rieussec was bought by the Lafite Rothschilds and Charles Chevallier arrived with such éclat to manage the élevage, but harvesting was done by the outgoing owner, Albert Vuillier. A great botrytis year, it has that tarry bouquet and a lovely caramel taste, with peaches on the finish and fresh acidity. It may have aged even more gracefully than the high residual sugar 1990.
