Heath after Joshua Reynolds, 2 letterpress titles, 2 plates of facsimiles; occasional light marginal spotting, a few more light spots on first title and on verso of portrait. Contemporary calf, gilt-tooled border; spines renewed, corners and edges worn. Brown buckram clamshell case.


First edition, first issue, of Boswell's masterpiece, with "gve" for "give" in volume 1, page 135, line 10. A clean, wide-margined copy.
