52 PRINTED AMERICAN SERMONS, MOSTLY EARLY 19TH-CENTURY VOLUMES, IN UNIFORM CONTEMPORARY BINDINGS, EVIDENTLY COMPILED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE


Together 52 pamphlets in 2 vols., 8vo (8 x 5 in.; 202 x 128 mm), some lacking half-titles, variously severe browning. Uniform nineteenth-century half calf over marbled boards, red morocco spine labels lettered "Sermons"; extremities rubbed.


The first volume contains 23 sermons, chiefly memorial, including Daniel Webster, Discourse in Commemoration of the Lives and Services of John Adam and Thomas Jefferson (Boston: Cummings, Hilliard, 1826); Aaron Bancroft, Sermon delivered July 9th, 1826, the Sunday following the Death of the Hon. John Adams (Worcester: Charles Griffin, 1826), presentation inscription on the title-page (cropped); Aaron Bancroft, The Leaf an Emblem of Human Life.
