A WINDMILL AND A VILLAGE ON THE EDGE OF A SNOWY MEADOW
signed Constant Artz (lower left)
oil on canvas
canvas: 47 by 39½ in.; 121.5 by 100 cm
framed: 57 by 49¼ in.; 144.8 by 125.1 cm
Oil on lined canvas, not examined out of the frame. The surface is in generally good condition and presents well, aside from surface dirt and dust, faint stretcher bar marks, craquelure, and isolated pin dots of house paint at lower right. The colors remain fresh. Under UV light, the picture surface is obscured by a green-fluorescing varnish, though a 1/2 inch dash of retouching on the windmill and a dot of retouching in the brown foliage right of center are visible. Framed and ready to hang in a black wooden frame with gold classical border.
