SHEEP ON THE DUNES

signed A. Mauve (lower right)

oil on panel

panel: 12½ by 18¾ in.; 31.8 by 47.6 cm

framed: 24⅝ by 30¾ in.; 62.5 by 78.1 cm

Condition Report

Oil on panel, not examined out of the frame. The work is in good condition, aside from a few sparse, barely visible pin dot accretions in the sky and minor frame abrasion along right edge. The colors remain fresh. Under UV light, the surface is slightly obscured by an unevenly applied green-fluorescing varnish, though a 4 inch brushy area of restoration extending from upper left corner; scattered pin dot retouches in the sky; longer dashes of inpainting in the sky, center right and isolated in landscape; additional smaller areas of restoration isolated in sky, at center left and along right edge; and a 1 1/2 inch thin vertical repair extending from right lower edge are visible.

Framed in an ornamental gold frame and ready to hang in its current state.
