signed and dated W. Malecki / 1872 lower left

oil on canvas

Unframed: 45 by 117cm., 17¾ by 46in.

Framed: 57.5 by 130cm., 22¾ by 51¼in.

The canvas has a wax lining. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure. Ultra-violet light reveals peripheral strokes of retouching in the sky, and more extensive spots and strokes of strengthening and restoration in the land, however traces of old residual varnish in this area make the surface difficult to read. Under normal light, overall this work presents well and is ready to hang.
