Portrait of a Child, Rose Grimsdale

signed and dated G CLAUSEN 91 lower right and titled, signed and dated Rose Grimsdale./ G. CLAUSEN 1891 on the reverse

oil on panel

Unframed: 30 by 20cm., 12 by 8in.

Framed: 56 by 46cm., 22 by 18in.

This picture is in excellent condition. The panel is flat and providing a stable support for the picture. The paint surface is a little dirty, with areas of staining particularly to the girl's smock. The picture would be brightened by a light clean. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT There is a small spot on the girl's left cheek which may be a very minor retouching.
