Copenhagen, Charlottenborg, 1842 (awarded a silver medal)
The Artist's Model was painted while Exner was apprenticed to the leading Danish Golden Age artist Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (1783-1853) and is clearly inspired by the latter's Young Girl Undressing of 1844 (34.2 by 30.2cm, private collection).
