Lawrence, a portraitist in the grand manner, exhibited a group portrait of Jane, Jennifer and Susan Clark, wife and daughters of the lawyer Sir Andrew Clark Bt. in 1951 at the Royal Academy, from which we may identify the sitter of our painting as Jennifer, the youngest of the daughters. Sir Andrew Clark, 3rd Bt. (1898-1979) was a barrister who had been awarded an MC and an MBE. He married his second wife, named as Jane but born Adeline Frances Harriet Derviche-Jones, in 1924. The Baronetcy became extinct upon Sir Andrew's death in 1979.
