The volume includes nine drawings for 'A Frog he would a-fishing go' (verses by C[lifton] B[ingham]). There is an obvious resemblance to Jeremy Fisher, who had appeared in a picture letter to Eric Moore the previous year. Comical Customers also includes a full-page illustration entitled 'What shall we buy?' (cf an original pen and grisaille drawing from the collection of Bertram Potter, sold in these rooms, 17 July 2008, lot 295, which itself was modelled on Frank Sutcliffe's photograph of David Storry's grocery shop in Whitby).
