Overall in excellent condition. The bronze surfaces throughout with scattered extremely minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The claws and feet with some very light rubbing to the patina consistent with handling. The crab’s shell and pot that holds the inkwell with some possible enhancement to the patina. The shell is in excellent condition and presents with natural irregularities to the surface and with some green discoloration near the bottom edge, not visually distracting. The crab’s proper left leg is lifted slightly and does not rest flush on the tabletop which does not affect functionality of the work. With a period clear glass inkwell liner in very good condition with some scattered minor air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and with some very minor flecks to the inner edge of the rim consistent with age and use. A superb example of this ingenious and highly sculptural inkstand model displaying an exceptionally deep and rich russet brown patina.
