A LARGE MEISSEN BACCHIC-SUBJECT CENTERPIECE, LATE 19TH CENTURY


possibly modelled by Ernst August Leuteritz, of bombe-form, applied with two high bacchanal-herm handles, the shaped-rim molded in relief with bands of grape-vine reserved on a gilt-dot ground, the interior rim with a gilt-anthemion scrollwork band, each side finely painted with a bacchanal scene of putti in a landscape, flanked by panels of gilt-scrolls on a grey-ground, raised on four paw feet with foliate terminals, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue
