leaded glass, patinated bronze
with plaque signed DUFFNER & KIMBERLY CO./NEW YORK
42 in. (106.7 cm) drop
29½ in. (74.9 cm) diameter of shade
Overall in very good condition. The shade displays vivid, variegated green hues with blue undertones and is accented with vibrant reds and pinks when viewed firsthand. The shade with some occasional scattered hairline cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The shade with some traces of surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines, consistent with age. The upper ring with some evidence of resoldering visible on the interior. The bottom border of the shade with a break that has been sensitively stabilized at some point in the history of the piece with one nearby green tile which appears to have been replaced. With replaced sockets. With a period cap in very good condition and with later reproduction chains and ceiling canopy, all in good condition with scattered surface scratches, abrasions, and wear consistent with age. An impressively scaled and richly colored work with beautiful glass selection, including red and pink drapery glass to articulate the peony blossoms.
