Poker Game (Bad Beat) and Poker Game (Heads Up) are both reverse glass paintings of Elton John's 21st official album release entitled 21 at 33 from 1980. The CD paintings depict characters from the beloved children's book and television series Thomas the Tank Engine by Wilbert Awdry. In the tradition of American absurdist paintings by Kash Koolidge, a Philadelphia native better known for his Dogs Playing Poker series from the early 1900s, the painting depicts Thomas the Tank Engine (and friends) in the midst of a seemingly mild game of poker. Akin to the frames of an animation or a Muybridge photograph, each painting depicts a vastly different scene happening moments apart, in this case from cold (PGHU) to hot (PGBB).
