This work is included in the Sam Francis: Catalogue Raisonné of Canvas and Panel Paintings, published by the University of California Berkeley Press (UC Press: 2011) under the number SFF.581.
This work is in very good condition overall. Under close inspection, there is evidence of handling to the edges, primarily at the extreme edges where soiling is visible in the white pigment. There is a minor and unobtrusive translucent drip accretion visible along the right edge extending 6 inches from the horizontal median of the canvas. Under extremely close inspection and in raking light, there are fine networks of hairline craquelure visible in the areas of dark red pigment visible throughout. Some dust has adhered to the areas of acrylic pigment. Under ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned drip accretion fluoresces lightly but has not benefited from restoration. Framed.
