Mel Bochner is a conceptual artist best known for his works incorporating language. The words or phrases are synonyms, which explore the intersection of linguistic and visual representation, the individualized color scheme of each word within the series serving to further this investigation. Bochner’s works are in the collections of Tate, London and Museum of Modern Art, New York, and have been further included in shows at the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles; and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
