"If the universe of poetry collapses, we will not cry, because we have never asked for too much poetry, only the bare minimum to survive. The era of the twisted avant-garde is over forever, goodbye Beauty, goodbye Mystery. I know very well that this speech will appear too partial and sectorial. It will be said that this is theory, it does not touch the masses. (...). They will insist that it concerns only poets. And I say the dictatorship of poetry on the other arts is necessary to free them. They will say that the discussion, however, will concern only the artists. I answer that the liberation of art can also be a metaphor, the metaphor of the liberation of man."

"Se crolla l'universo della poesia, noi non piangiamo, perché non abbiamo mai chiesto troppo alla poesia, ma solo il minimo indispensabile per sopravvivere. L'era dell'avanguardismo storcio è finita per sempre, addio Bellezza, addio Mistero. So benissimo che questo discorso apparra' troppo parziale e settoriale. Si dirà: è teoria, non tocca le masse. (...). Si insisterà: riguarda soltanto i poeti. E io dico: la dittatura della poesia sulle altre arti è necessaria per liberarle. Si dirà ancora: il discorso, comunque, riguarderà soltanto gli artisti. Io rispondo: la liberazione dell'arte può essere - anche - una metafora, la metafora della liberazione dell'uomo."
