oil on canvas
painting: 21⅝ by 18 in. 55 by 45.8 cm.
framed: 26¾ by 23¼ in. 67.9 by 59.1 cm.
Executed in 1962.
This work is registered in the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, Milan, under no. 3477/1 and is accompanied by a photo-certificate issued by the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, Milan.
This work is in very good condition overall. There is very light evidence of handling along the extreme edges with a few minor and unobtrusive pinpoint losses at the extreme corners. There is a network of hairline cracks visible throughout the composition and in the area of impasto around the void, all of which appears to be in stable condition and is inherent to the artist’s working method and intent. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is a ¼-inch vertical area that fluoresces darkly along the lower left edge. Framed.
