The Kafka II chair was originally designed for Death Destruction & Detroit II, performed in 1986-1987 at the Berlin Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. The key figure of the play was Franz Kafka, the audience sat on the metal bar stools in the middle of the room to have an unobstructed view of the theatrical events from all sides.
